WHAT IS A GREEN SANCTUARY?

GREEN SANCTUARY CERTIFICATION

UUCF has been certified as a Green Sanctuary Congregation by the Unitarian Universalist Association. Our accreditation was recognized at a special reception at the UUA General Assembly on Saturday, June 25, 2011.

At our 2011 June 12 Annual Meeting, the congregation voted unanimously to apply for Green Sanctuary Certification by the Unitarian Universalist Association. The application is a 30 page document which summarizes 17 projects in four areas: Worship and Celebration, Religious Education, Environmental Justice, and Sustainability.

Most of the application consists of documenting the measures adopted by the congregation over the past ten years to make our building and procedures green. It also includes two new projects: creating a Green Sanctuary Kitchen policy and procedures document and the launching of a multi-faceted Watershed Stewardship project.
